Course Information
"Biomedical engineering" is one of the important branch of life science, is the application of natural science and the principle and method of modern engineering technology to research the physiological and pathological process of organisms, especially in human and other life phenomenon, and puts forward the new research, diagnosis and treatment methods and equipment of multidisciplinary cross frontier disciplines. Biomedical engineering discipline is mainly about the basic research. The applicationis very wide, including biomedical signal detection and sensor principle, method of biomedical signal processing, medical imaging and image processing method, method of treatment and rehabilitation engineering, biomechanics, biomaterials, the modeling and control of biological systems, biological effects, etc. Thediscipline can be used in medicine and biology, and promote the progress and development of modern medicine, which has become the important condition of modern medicine and biology.
The discipline’s teaching staff structure is reasonable. There are 6 master tutors, including 3 professors and 3 associate professors. In recent years, the discipline has been engaged in medical equipment, medical imaging and image processing, and bio-signal acquisition analysis, bio-electromagnetic technology and other aspects of teaching and research, and scientific research teaching. Scientific research achievements conversion rate is higher. "The production process automation engineering technology research center of Hebei province" is our province key laboratory, and "production process automation integrated experimental teaching center" is a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. We have advanced instruments and equipments for scientific research and training required.
1 Training Objectives
We are engaged in training the students with excellent moral qualities, good professional knowledge and the capacity of scientific research and development. Specifically the fields of electronic information science and technology, biotechnology, information processing. The students would have a strong independent analysis of issues and problem-solving skill and can communicate with others with English. The graduates come from this discipline are capable for performing the work of the institutions of higher learning, research institutes, enterprises and other units of teaching, research, and technology management.
2 Main Research Directions
(1) Ultrasonic engineering and imaging
(2) Biomedical signal and information processing technology
(3) Biomedical detection and electromechanical control technology
(4) Bio-electromagnetic technology
3 Requirements of Credit and Develop Life
The total course credits are required to achieve 30-36 credits, in which the degree course credits are not less than 16 credits. Postgraduates will finish their studies in 2.5 years, no more than 5 years.

5 Opening Report
Opening report must be finished in the middle of the third semester after have completed 25 credits of graduate. The report include: status of research topics in your field, historical and cutting-edge issues, the existing conditions, goals, difficulties and problem-solving technical approach. Paper may commence only after the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee and the disciplinary review panel.
6 Interim Assessments
In the middle of the fourth semester, graduate will be in the interim assessment. Graduate whose course credits up to 30-36, can be enter the dissertation stage.
7 Dissertation and Defense Requirements
(1) Dissertation is an important part of the process of post-graduate training. It can cultivate abilities such as literature search and review, report of the topic, experimental design and organization, experimental data processing, logical thinking and theoretical analysis, computer applications, thesis writing and presentation skills, especially the ability to working independently and creativity.
(2) Dissertation topics should adhere to the principle of combining theory and practice, should have theoretical and practical significance, and strive to be combined with the economic construction and social development.
(3) The thesis must have its insights or new achievements, and has certain significance to socialist modernization or development of the discipline in theory or practice. Type of "design" or "report" paper should have a certain technical difficulty and a certain amount of work. It can reflect the graduate’s ability that comprehensive use of theoretical knowledge and solve practical problems. The dissertation must be completed independently by graduate students, cooperation projects should be made clear in my main finished part.
(4) After completion of the dissertation and the courses, graduate may apply for the dissertation defense. The defense organized by the Institute according to prescribed procedures, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the theoretical basis, research ability and design capabilities, to put forward the views on whether or not to grant degrees. After the respondent passed by the discussion of the College Sub-Committee, and materials must be submitted to the office of the degree then submit to the school degree assessment committee for approval.
